Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is currently considered the quantitative reference of myocardial perfusion. Despite the fact that the current main clinical utility of myocardial perfusion with PET is to diagnose obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD), the 2018 guideline on myocardial revascularisation from the European Society of Cardiology (ECS) only recommends non-invasive functional tests over invasive for the consideration of revascularisation due to CAD.
